An excellent Excelso from small family farms surrounding the village of Piendamó, near Inza,  in the Cauca region to the North East of Popayán.   Superbly reliable this is a coffee that delivers a perfect balance of rich body with nutty chocolate notes and a hint of forest fruit!  A thoroughbred all-rounder from a region that, despite it’s violent past, is producing some of Colombia’s most interesting beans.

Ideal for Filter, Cafetière and Aeropress brews, also the makings of a milder Stovetop or Espresso.

Coffee cultivation from small family owned farms is the backbone of production in Colombia. This lot comes from producers with small farms in the municipality of Piendamó within the department of Cauca. Each producer has their own micro-mill where they carefully harvest cherries, depulp, ferment, wash and gently dry the parchment on raised beds.

Cauca’s violent past, with a heavy presence of FARC guerrillas, had historically prevented the FNC (Colombia’s excellent national coffee board) and specialty-focused exporters from establishing a presence in the region. As violence has diminished, it has enabled the growers in the region to seek increased access to markets for quality, not only taking advantage of the region’s wonderful coffee-growing conditions but also the economic resource that nearby tourist destinations bring (for instance, the World Heritage Site “Parque Nacional Arqueológico de Tierradentro”).
