Rwanda Aba Sholi

From £3.40

Red Berry, Citrus, Honey

Rwanda is infamous for its exceptional climate conditions, fertile volcanic soils, and diverse high-altitude landscapes, making this small nation one of the world’s perfect growing regions for specialty coffee. Generous rainfall, abundant sunshine, and nutrient-rich volcanic terrain combine to produce coffees celebrated for vibrant acidity and delicate floral notes, yet offering fulsome body and remarkable complexity.

Aba Sholi is grown, processed and prepared with real precision, and it shows in the cup: bright and fruit-forward, with a smooth, silk body and a clean refined finish. It’s a coffee that carries its story with it- every bag helping fund healthcare, clean water, and fair employment back into the Sholi community. Best enjoyed as a bright filter or V60, though it holds its own in a cafetière too.

The Abateraninkunga ba Sholi Cooperative was founded in 2008 by thirty women who were tired of selling in to opaque, low-paying marketing. The Cooperative now supports 721 farmers, funding healgcane, clean water, and fair employment back into the Sholi community. Abateraninkunga means in the native language of Kinyarwanda means ‘Mutual Assistance’, which is the foundation of the Sholi cooperative. Today, the cooperative has 721 certified farmers, including 276 women and 80 young growers, all bound by the same spirit of mutual support the name promises.
