Mondul Estate was founded in 1931 and became part of Burka Estates in 2007. The 211-hectare farm is located on the slopes of Mondul Mountain, about 25 km from Burka town in the Arusha region of Northern Tanzania. Set in the heart of Maasai land, the estate is surrounded by the rich culture and natural beauty which makes this region so special.

Unlike fully washed coffees, “natural” or “dry processed” coffees are dried whole after harvest, with the sweet, sticky fruit layer still surrounding the bean. As the cherries dry, the natural fruit sugars are absorbed, creating a rich, syrupy body with vibrant sweetness and distinctive tropical fruit notes.

Tanzania - Africa

Coffee has been cultivated in Tanzania for centuries. Before the introduction of commercial Arabica by German colonists in the late nineteenth century, the Haya people traditionally used coffee as a stimulant and ceremonial crop. Following the First World War, production expanded under British administration, and today Tanzania is recognised for high-quality Arabica grown on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru.

Typical Tanzanian taste notes include blackcurrant, citrus, cocoa and dark berries, with lively acidity and a clean finish.

This coffee can be brewed in a number of ways. Head to our Brew Guides section to master your preferred brew method.Brew Guides
